Chief Planning Office is a Statistical branch for Collection, Compilation, Analysis and Interpretation of statistical data over a vast range of sectors to meet the challenging needs of the district.
The planning department at district level is headed by Chief Planning Officer and supported by Assistant Director, Deputy Statistical Officers and Mandal Planning & Statistical Officers. At mandal level a Mandal Planning & Statistical Officer helps Tahsildar to compile the necessary data.
Basically, activities of Chief Planning Office 1. Agriculture Statistics, 2. Industrial Statistics, 3. Price Statistics, 4. Social Statistics, 5. Local Statistics and 6. Sample Surveys.
- Agriculture Statistics: – Agricultural year (June to May) is divided in to basically two seasons viz., Kharif and Rabi. Agricultural census is conducted in both seasons Viz., Kharif and Rabi in a year.
- Rainfall Statistics: – Rainfall Statistics are used for monitoring the seasonal conditions and the progress of Agricultural operations on a continuous basis.
- Area Statistics: – Agriculture Census is an abstract of crop-wise, source-wise area sown particulars. Agriculture Census will be conducted in both Kharif and Rabi seasons separately. Advance Estimates are estimates of Area and production well in advance prior to the Agriculture Census estimates of production is sufficient to cater the needs stake-holders. National Agriculture Insurance Scheme includes planning and conduct of Crop Cutting Experiments to arrive the crop loss and yield particulars.
- Industrial Statistics: – This office will conduct Annual Survey of Industries (ASI): it provides information to assess the changes in the growth and structure of organized manufacturing sector comprising activities related to manufacturing processes. Index of Industrial Production: It includes the relative change of physical production in the field of Industry during specific period as compared to the previous period.
- Price Statistics: – It includes collection and compilation of Retail Prices, Wholesale Prices, Consumer Price Index, Farm Harvest Prices, Essential Commodities Prices and Building Material Prices.
- Social Statistics: – District Hand Book of Statistics, under this we collect the data from various departments at district level.
- Sample Surveys: -Socio Economic Surveys are conducted round wise. 77th Round SES is completed successfully and 78th Round is commenced.
This office assists the District Collector in scrutinization of proposals of public representatives, according of Administrative Sanction, Release of funds to the Executive Agencies and submission of various reports to the government on planning subjects, such as MPLADS, CDP, SDF, CBF and DMFT.
